What is Digital Dealer?
Digital Dealer is a biannual conference and expo for the auto industry, predominately for car dealers (GM, DP, etc.), and vendors. During the four days of the conference, attendees learn how to navigate hurdles in sales, service, and operations from automotive experts. On the expo floor, there’s no shortage of targets but they don’t always turn out to be prospects. Now, I’m sure you know the difference!
What is experiential marketing?
We wanted to find ways to turn those targets into prospects for our vendor partners at Digital Dealer. After some brainstorming, we decided the best way to drive quality demos was with experiential marketing. You may be asking: what’s that?
Experiential marketing brings your brand to life through actual experiences. This makes it different from traditional marketing with digital banners or direct mail. It separates the generations and gives the participant a unique, buzz-worthy experience. So, what did we do and why was it so successful? We produced the first “Pureinfluencer Poker Run” at Digital Dealer that, in some cases, drove over 50 demos in two days.
What is the Pureinfluencer Poker Run?
The game was simple: play poker, win money. Conference attendees had the opportunity to listen to full demos at any of our eight partners. In exchange for their time, could then draw a card to create a five-card poker hand. The more partners they visited for full demos, the better their odds. The winners walked away with cash prizes – $500 for worst hand, $2,000 for the runner-up’s hand, and $15,000 for the best hand.
The experience these dealers had was unique. All eight partners experienced a minimum of 31 demos (over two days) with qualified dealership management… aka “decision-makers.” After the first two days of Digital Dealer, some partners even reported over 50 demos.
